The Whirlwind Disney Weekend

My daughter practically lives and breathes Disney. And I have to admit that I would live there if I could.

A few weeks ago, she said that she was going to steal me away for a quick weekend trip to get our Disney fix. Since we are AP’s (see previous blog post), we already had our tickets to the parks. We just needed a place to stay and some gas and food money.

After deciding that sleeping in the car was not the best option, we did a search on VRBO. I found a one bedroom apartment to rent for 2 nights. 5-star reviews, so how bad could it be, right? This was my first time using VRBO so I was a bit nervous.

You know what? That VRBO is worth its very own blog post. I’m just gonna skip that part for now and post about it later. Now on to Disney!

After getting off work, coming home, cooking supper, sending my husband off to work, and taking a night-time medicine, I went to bed. It was about 7:30 pm. I slept until about 11:45 pm and we left out at 1 am, driving 592 miles to our home away from home. We have determined that the best driving happens during the middle of the night. Just us and the truck drivers. 5-hour energy shots and red cinnamon candy were lifesavers.

You can see my story for this Disney trip on my Instagram account (@housecharming_juliet), just click on the Disney circle below my bio.

We spent the first day in Epcot riding rides and exploring the countries. After watching the David Cook concert at the American Pavilion for the Eat to the Beat Concert Series, we had dinner at the Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria.

On day two, we were there for rope drop into Hollywood Studios and the afternoon and evening in Magic Kingdom. Dinner that night was at The Plaza Restaurant beside the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street.

To finish up our trip, on the third and last day we went to Animal Kingdom. We were there for rope drop and went straight to Pandora and the Avatar Flight of Passage. We didn’t have a fast pass so this was the best option to ride this and not have to wait in a horrendous line. Next, we had a fast pass to ride Expedition Everest at 9:15am. Much to my daughter’s dismay, it was too early to buy some curry corn-on-the cob so we hit the road.

9 or so hours later, we arrived home. Exhausted, sore, tired, and ready to sleep in our own beds.

It was a fun trip! I learned some lessons (some the hard way) but I would definitely do it again.

Are you up for a whirlwind Disney trip?
